About the D1 Now Definitive Trial
We’re testing a youth-friendly way of delivering Type 1 Diabetes support in real clinics. The aim is to make appointments more useful, boost self-management confidence, and improve outcomes that matter to young adults.
12 centres across Ireland
Recruiting across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
29 participants per site (18–25)
Young adults with Type 1 Diabetes aged 18–25 at each centre.
12-month study
Data at baseline, 6 months, and 12 months.

Intervention Components
Support Worker
- Assigned to intervention centres to assist young adults.
- Focus on goal-setting, engagement and navigating care.
- Bridges between clinic visits for continuity.
Agenda-Setting Tool
- Lets young adults set priorities for each clinic visit.
- Ensures their concerns are heard and addressed.
- Makes appointments feel more useful and person-centred.
